Product Introduction

Precision Slit 321 Stainless Steel Strip is a titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel flat product engineered for structural and mechanical applications operating in elevated temperature environments (427°C to 816°C). By adding titanium to bind carbon, this grade prevents chromium carbide precipitation during thermal processing, preserving corrosion resistance in severe operating conditions. Supplying to OEMs, tier-one fabricators, and global service centers, we provide cold-rolled and hot-rolled coils and sheets cut to precise dimensional requirements.

Key Features

Intergranular Corrosion Resistance: Titanium alloying stabilizes the alloy against chromium depletion during welding or continuous high-temperature exposure.

Elevated Temperature Strength: Maintains mechanical integrity and creep resistance up to 800°C in continuous service environments.

Formability and Weldability: Exhibits good ductility for deep drawing, stamping, and conventional fusion welding processes.

Tight Dimensional Control: Processed via precision rolling mills to maintain strict thickness, width, and flatness tolerances.

Key Characteristics & Typical Use

Grade 321 (Standard)

UNS S32100 / 1.4541

Standard titanium-stabilized grade for general high-temperature applications.

Grade 321H (High Carbon)

UNS S32109 / 1.4550

Higher carbon range (0.04% - 0.10%) providing enhanced creep strength at temperatures above 500°C.

Surface Finishes

2B (Cold Rolled): Annealed, pickled, and skin-passed for a smooth, reflective grey finish.

BA (Bright Annealed): Controlled atmosphere annealed for a mirror-like, reflective surface finish.

No. 1 (Hot Rolled): Annealed and pickled finish for industrial and heat-resistant applications where surface aesthetics are secondary.

Custom Coatings: Laser cutting protective PVC film (one or two sides, fiber laser compatible).

Applications

Aerospace & Exhaust Systems

Aircraft piston engine exhaust manifolds, collector rings, and cabin heating ducts.

Industrial Thermal Processing

Annealed boxes, furnace linings, burner nozzles, and heat exchanger baffles.

Chemical & Petrochemical

Expansion joints, refinery piping components, and acid-transfer containment liners.

Automotive Engineering

Heavy-duty diesel exhaust systems, catalytic converter shells, and emission control tubing.

Custom Thickness and Dimensions

Standard sheet dimensions may not align with specialized fabrication requirements. Our processing facility supports non-standard specifications and global logistics integration:

Precision Slitting: Slitting widths down to 20 mm with edge burr control (<0.05 mm).

Cut-to-Length: Laser and shear cutting to precise dimensional tolerances (±0.5 mm).

Specialized Gauges: Rolling mills capable of customized intermediate thicknesses upon request.

Incoterms Flexibility: Support for FOB, CIF, and door-to-door DDP shipping solutions to accurately evaluate project landing costs.

Quality Control and Surface Inspection

Traceability and material integrity are verified through strict internal inspection protocols prior to dispatch:

Chemical Analysis: Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES) performed per heat to confirm titanium-to-carbon ratio (Ti >= 5C).

Mechanical Testing: Tensile testing, yield strength verification, and hardness testing executed per ASTM / EN guidelines.

Surface & Dimensional Inspection: Automated thickness scanning and manual flatness verification using precision straightedges and feeler gauges.

Intergranular Corrosion Testing: Strauss test (ASTM A262 Practice E) available upon customer request for critical process equipment.

Packaging and Shipping

To prevent transit oxidation, scratching, and edge deformation, export packaging meets international logistics standards:

Waterproof Protection: Interleaved with anti-rust paper or plastic film between sheets.

Palletization: Heavy-duty wooden skids or fumigated wooden crates secured with steel strapping and edge protectors.

Container Loading: Pallets loaded and braced inside 20GP/40GP containers to withstand long-haul maritime transport.

FAQ

Q: What is the primary advantage of Grade 321 over Grade 304 in high-temperature environments?

A: Grade 321 contains titanium, which preferentially binds with carbon. This prevents chromium carbide precipitation at grain boundaries during welding or service within the 427°C to 816°C range, eliminating susceptibility to intergranular corrosion.

Q: Can you provide third-party inspection reports (e.g., SGS, BV, TUV)?

A: Yes. We accommodate third-party inspection and testing prior to shipment upon client request.

Q: What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for custom-sized 321 stainless steel sheets?

A: MOQ depends on thickness and width requirements. Standard stock sizes are available in small batch quantities, while custom rolling runs generally start at 1 metric ton per specification.

Q: Do your sheets come with EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Reports?

A: Yes. Every shipment includes a traceable 3.1 MTR detailing actual chemical composition and mechanical test results from the melt heat.

Q: Do you offer DDP shipping to assist with project landing costs?

A: Yes. In addition to standard FOB and CIF terms, we coordinate DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) shipping for select regions, allowing procurement teams to accurately calculate total landed costs with minimal customs clearance friction.
