Product Introduction

Grade 301 is a ferritic, straight-chromium, non-hardenable stainless steel combining moderate corrosion resistance, good thermal conductivity, and excellent formability. As a cost-effective alternative to austenitic grades like 304, Precision 301 Stainless Steel Sheet is widely utilized in environments requiring resistance to mild atmospheric corrosion, organic acids, and nitric acid.

Our facility maintains a regular inventory of over 1,500 metric tons of coil and plate stock, processed via precision multi-roller leveling and slitting equipment. Every shipment is supplied with EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificates conforming to ASTM A240 and EN 1.4016 standards.

Key Features

Ferritic Microstructure: Non-hardenable via heat treatment; exhibits permanent ferromagnetism in both annealed and cold-worked conditions.

Thermal Efficiency: Higher thermal conductivity and lower thermal expansion coefficient compared to austenitic grades, suiting heat-transfer applications.

Formability: Excellent ductility for deep drawing, bending, and roll-forming operations, though welding requires pre-heating for thicker sections to avoid grain growth.

Cost Stability: Lower alloy cost stability due to the absence of nickel and lower chromium content relative to 304.

Custom Thickness and Dimensions

To minimize scrap rates and secondary processing costs at your manufacturing facility, we execute precise dimensional cutting and surface protection:

CNC Fiber Laser & Plasma Cutting: Dimensional tolerances controlled within +/- 0.5 mm for complex profile blanks and customized shapes based on CAD/DXF drawings.

High-Speed Slitting & Leveling Lines: Coil processing lines equipped with precision multi-roller straighteners to eliminate internal stress, ensuring flatness and burr-free edges.

Surface Protective Film Application: In-line application of PVC laser-cutting film (up to 100 microns) or black/white PE protective film to prevent scratching during stamping or bending.

Quality Control and Surface Inspection

Product integrity is verified through multi-stage inspection protocols before dispatch:

Surface Finishes Available:

2B: Cold-rolled, annealed, pickled, and skin-passed for a smooth, moderately reflective finish.

No. 4 / Brushed: Directional polish achieved via abrasive belts (grit 150-240).

BA (Bright Annealed): Controlled-atmosphere heat-treated mirror-like finish.

HL (Hairline): Long, continuous fine parallel polishing lines.

Dimensional Verification: Laser micrometers and digital calipers measure thickness uniformity, diagonal squareness, and edge camber.

Traceability: Each plate is stamped and tagged with heat numbers corresponding directly to the EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificate, documenting chemical melt analysis and mechanical test results.

Packaging and Shipping

To protect plates from transit corrosion, moisture, and mechanical impact during international shipping:

Export-Grade Seaworthy Packaging: Heavy-duty wooden pallets interleaved with moisture-proof paper, wrapped in waterproof plastic sheeting, and reinforced with heavy-duty steel strapping.

Edge Protection: Corner angle guards fitted on all sides to prevent edge curling and impact damage during crane or forklift handling.

Container Loading Capacity: Optimized for 20GP/40GP containers (up to 27 metric tons per container), with container desiccant bags placed inside to absorb moisture during long sea voyages.

FAQ

Q: Is grade Precision 301 Stainless Steel Sheet weldable?

A: Grade 301 is weldable, but grain growth in the heat-affected zone can reduce ductility. For structural welds subject to stress, pre-heating to 150°C-200°C and post-weld annealing are recommended. Alternatively, stabilized variants like 301Ti can be utilized.

Q: How does the corrosion resistance of 301 compare to 304?

A: Grade 301 contains no nickel and less chromium than 304, making it less resistant to marine, chemical, and severe industrial environments. It performs well in indoor, dry, or mild organic acid environments (e.g., food processing, indoor architecture).

Q: What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for custom cut sizes?

A: For standard stock plates, the MOQ is 1 metric ton per size. For custom laser-cut blanks or specialized thicknesses, MOQ depends on the production schedule; contact our engineering sales team for details.

Q: What documentation is included with each shipment?

A: Every shipment includes a Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Certificate of Origin (upon request), and an EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificate.
